Roaming Acres might be moving from the
Tri-State Area

Roaming Acres, an ostrich farm located in Andover, N.J., will not be is its current location for much longer. Todd Appelbaum, the owner of the 7-year old farm, has decided not to renew the lease after several complaints from neighbors of damages caused by the ostriches. In hopes of finding a new location close to the expanding greenmarket in New York City, Todd is currently seeking a new location in New Jersey before his current lease expires at the end of September. The farm also raises Berkshire pigs and emus.

$1 million tax break incentives given to Bread Manufacturer

Pain D’Avignon plans to expand its operations and keep their manufacturing facility in New York City after the city’s Industrial Development Agency agreed to $1 million in tax break incentives. The bread manufacturing company plans to add more jobs and increase production by 30% with the purchase of new equipment for the new space. The space which was formerly owned by City Baking, will be taken over by Pain D’Avignon in August.

McClure’s Pickles now makes Potatoes

The Brooklyn-based company, McClure’s Pickles, teamed up with Detroit-based snack food company, Better Made, to roll out a new product line which will combine the seasonings of the beloved pickle company with the veteran Detroit-based snack food company for a unique potato chip with a pickle flavor. The new product line will be featured in New York and Detroit around mid-July 2011 and online the following month, in August
