Corner Bakery Cafe expands to the Northeast with an anticipated 22 locations in Connecticut and Rhode Island
Corner Bakery Cafe, know for its signature line of grilled panini, freshly baked sweets and made-to-order breakfast scramblers, will open 22 new locations in Rhode Island and Connecticut throughout the next eight years.
The agreement, signed by Top Line Restaurants, calls for 16 cafes in Connecticut and six in Rhode Island, with the first location scheduled to open by summer 2013. The new restaurants will help boost the local economy in those states by adding more than 800 jobs into the market over the next eight years.

Food Trucks head inside to your place of work. NYC food trucks have been traveling up the freight elevator of the 19-story Starrett-Lehigh Building at 601 West 26th Street in West Chelsea, to offer dining options five days a week to some 6,000 office workers and visitors.
“This is the first indoor vertical food-truck court in the city, and as far as I know, the country,”
said David Weber, president of the New York City Food Truck Association, which was asked by
the building’s owner, RXR Realty, to curate the daily “truck collection” because of a paucity of
lunchtime choices in the neighborhood, west of the High Line between 11th and 12th Avenues.

German bakery, Landbrot Bakery, opened in the West Village on Sunday with a second location opening next week in the Lower East Side
Baked treats and beer sounds like a good pairing especially if you’re think of pretzels, breads, quiches and traditional German pizza called Flamkuchen. There will be a breakfast menu served for early patrons and a bar for late night guests.

National Cupcake Expansion and Beyond
Despite the five year slow growth prediction of 3.7% reported by IBISWorld, a market research reporting firm, cupcake companies in the U.S. are planning a rapid expansion for national and internal growth. Magnolia Bakery is planning overseas expansion, Georgetown Cupcake recently opened a Soho location with eyes on Boston this year and Crumbs is planning for a 200 store expansion by 2014- up from their current 50.

Sprinkles Cupcakes brings 24-hour cupcake vending machines around Manhattan
If your walking through the Downtown, Midtown or Upper West Side area this summer, Sprinkles will be placing vending machines on the street for automatic cupcake service. Cupcakes in the vending machines will be restocked daily corresponding to the flavors of the day.
