The new owner, Jamie Rogers, purchased the coffee shop in September and has worked on rebranding the shop to tell the story of the Lower East Side– from past to present while sipping on a cup of joe.
Jamie, who also lives in the neighborhood, has partnered with The Lo-Down (an online news website for the Lower East Side) to produce a printed version of local news

The newest additions to Pret A Manger is located at 1 Astor Place (East Village) and 350 Hudson Street (Soho). The Midtown West location at the corner of 45th and 6th Ave is expected to open next week.

Zella Jones of the neighborhood expressed concerns to Community Board 2 about the late night drinking crowd that the location will attract if it’s opening from 8am – 2am. Although Mile End showed a signed petition of 140 signatures, the application was denied.

As 35% of the world’s crop depends on pollination, scientists are discovering that there might be a cure to to honey bee crisis after finding that California has over 1,600 species of bees that do not produce honey but are able to pollinate
