Gov. Cuomo introduces The New York Fresh Connect Farmers’ Markets program

As the demand for access to fresh produce and foods becoming an important factor to the American economy, farmers are trying to meet the demand by creating more farmers markets– especially in urban cities such as New York.

New York’s Governor Cuomo introduced a new plan that the state will be launching to expand the current demographics in which existing farmers markets serve and place more into communities that have little to no access to them. The plan, which is called The New York Fresh Connect Farmers’ Markets, was announced on Tuesday and will grant up to $15,000 per location to help local farmers set up the markets. The program also caters to people that use food stamps for purchases.
