Pret A Manger

Pret A Manger: Made Today; Gone Today

Their Success… A unique approach to being natural and fresh. The white space, clear glass and metal-like signage with a hint of red compliments the constant smell of freshly prepared soups, baguettes and sandwiches rolled out throughout the day. The ingredients for all menu items are sourced daily while end-of-day leftovers are donated to local food organizations like City Harvest. The concept, “…made today, gone today”, is the reason behind the clean and fresh approach to the operation’s core values and has made what started out as an idea between to college friends in London, grow to an international way of keeping it “Au Naturale”.

What We Learned… A menu associated with familiar terms used to describe how the food is prepared can incorporate an original approach that ties in with the operation’s concept. Pret a Manger manages to apply the “natural and fresh” concept, not only their food, but also by sustainably giving back to where it’s needed most.

Take Aways… What are some terms you use to describe your food offerings? How can these terms be applied to your local community that integrates with your menu’s concept?
