Fika Espresso Bar
Their Success… Swedish-American coffee culture fusion. In Sweden, the word “Fika” means to “take a coffee break” and most Swedes consider this time as moment to gather with friends and family. The coffee beans are imported from Sweden and paired with Swedish-inspired pastries, truffles and jams. This espresso-esque enterprise creates a coffee culture the surrounds Sweden in a modern American way.
What We Learned… Embrace the ethnic culture in your concept that’s in-line with your location’s culture/demographics. FIKA Espresso Bar was able to re-create Sweden in an American form by embracing traditions and syncing familiarities between the two.
Take Aways… What is the synergy between the demographics of the area and your operation’s culture? How are the two connected? Is there a learning piece that engages your guests?
