Keurig Will Open Brick and Mortar Shop in Massachusetts
Keurig is branching out into retail with a brick and mortar shop in the Burlington Mall in Burlington, Massachusetts. They plan to open in November.
With a concept similar to the Nespresso stores, it sounds, the store is designed for customers to interact with Keurig brewers and beverages to determine which best match their preferences.

Lucy’s Whey to Open Third Location: Upper East Side
The artisanal cheese movement continues in Manhattan, with popular cheesemonger Lucy’s Whey opening their third shop. The newest, to open at 1417 Lexington Avenue, at East 93rd Street, follows the Chelsea Market and East Hampton location. This location will have expanded offerings and include a café.

One Year Later, Seaport Shops are Set to Reopen
Nearly a year after Hurricane Sandy, several shops that had been shuttered at The South Street Seaport are getting back to business.
Sushi emporiumSuteishi, wine bar Bin No. 220, Keg No. 229, the Paris Cafe, Italian restaurant Il Brigante, Jack’s Stir Brew Coffee and restaurant Nelson Blue, are heading back to their locations to reopen.

Brooklyn’s Liddabit Sweets Opening in Chelsea Market
Brooklyn-based Liddabit Sweets will open their first Manhattan outpost in Chelsea Market next week. The artisanal confectionery company will have a 270-square foot space on the concourse level. “‘Expanding into Manhattan’s food community is a huge step for us and there is no better place we could have imagined opening our first retail location,” said Liddabit co-founder Liz Guttman. “’We are thrilled to join Chelsea Market and the roster of vendors that share our passion for local, artisanal foods.’”
Liddabit plans to offer caramels, lollipops, candy bars, caramel corn, and more at their new location. They join a diverse group of seven new vendors to open in Chelsea Market in the last five months, including Hybird, Los Tacos No. 1, and Num Pang.

Maison Kayser Plans Two New Midtown Locations This Fall
French bakery concept Maison Kayser plans to open two new locations this fall, both in midtown. One location, at 58th and Broadway, will open at the end of September. A second will open on West 40th Street, near Bryant Park, by the end of the year.
Maison Kayser currently has two locations open in NYC, one on the Upper East Side at Third Avenue and E. 74th Street, and another in the Flatiron at Broadway and 21st Street. There are dozens of other locations throughout the world, including the original Paris location which opened in 1996.

Box Kite Coffee Opens Preview Popup Today
It’s been a big week in the NYC coffee scene, with Pulley Collective launching and Joe becoming a roaster retailer. Today’s news is all about Box Kite, with veterans Cora Lambert and Erik Becker of the former (closed) RBC team.
They’ve opened a pop-up cafe at wine bar Maslow 6 to display their espresso and coffee expertise, reconnect with the Tribeca crowd, and hone their service skills before opening on St. Mark’s place later in the year.

Pulley Launches Roastery Collective In Red Hook
We wrote yesterday about Joe , which is now becoming a roaster-retailer. They are making this leap as a roaster at the Pulley Collective, which has a feature in today’s New York Times.
The Pulley Collective is based in Red Hook, Brooklyn, and offers rental time for independent roasters.

The Rice Krispies Stand Alone: Treat House
Grub Street reports that Chris and Jennifer Russell are opening Treat House in a couple of weeks on the Upper West Side, the first brick-and-mortar shop dedicated to selling Rice Krispies treats. Planned flavors include bubble gum, cappuccino, caramel sea salt, and blueberry pie. Ten cents from each treat will go to the Food Bank for NYC.
